Team Zyte is facing major changes management and sponsors have decided to change the team completely putting the focus on a young talent from Argentina - Jeraldo Piedrahita.
Jeraldo Piedrahita is only 24 years old and was spotted in the Netherlands where Aphloeg discovered his great potential. The management in Team Zyte quickly agreed with the sponsors to sign this going-to-be super star who is expected to bring back Team Zyte to the Top Division.
Along with the young talent, the team also signed a couple of his training friends from the Netherlands (Ludger Roeles and Rembrandt van Dop) as well as two Belgium talents (Jason De Loose and Jordi Dejaegere) recommened by the Soren Van Leempten.
The future Team Zyte will be built around the yet unknown Jeraldo Piedrahita while it have its base in Turnhout in Belgium where each of the new riders will live and do the daily training together focussing a lot on team building.
"This is a new and exciting project. We will build a strong team and make our way back to the Top Division lead by Jeraldo Piedrahita who, given the right time, will become incredibly strong", says team manager Nick Lissner and continued: "Our main sponsor, Zyte, has interests in Belgium and the Netherlands, which resulted in this make-over of the team. Now was simply the right time".
The former World Champion and Roubaix Classic winner, Philbert Heffron, will guide the young riders to success, which explains why he alone stayed with the team after Kenny Haakon's exit when Team Z returned. In general, Philbert Heffron seems to be a very important brick in the puzzle, though he has had no comments since the departure of Haakon.
Sport commentators are sceptical of this new move from the Zyte team which seems to be going all in on the project, as a couple of riders from the "old" team already have been released. Rumours say that the two climbing stars Natanael Solano and Ali Dharr might also just have a short time left on the team.
